good morning to you. thanks for being with us. i'm marla tellez. >> and i'm jon kelley. good morning, everybody. >>> we begin with that developing story on the peninsula where that manhunt continues after a woman reportedly woke up to find a stranger right in her apartment bedroom. now, this incident taking place less than two miles from the stanford campus. nbc bay area's bob redell is at the scene right now in palo alto. he has the latest details. what are the police saying? >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. detectives with palo alto police tell us a man tried to sexually assault a woman as she slept inside her apartment here an hawthorne. and he was willing and able to force his way in through a door that was both locked and chained shut. a canine dog tracked his scent for a short time this morning but he managed to escape. one challenge is coming up with a detailed description. the woman doesn't know her attacker. it was dark inside her apartm t apartment. she tells police he was of an average build and wearing dark clothes. she woke to find him standing over her in

right now. >>> good morning. thank you very much for joining us. i'm jon kelley. >> i'm marla tellez. we begin this morning with the flooding in daly city where the clean up has begun. we have both nbc bay area's christie smith and bob redell redell with us. we start off with christie smith of the details and what happened. any clean up yet, christie? >> reporter: good morning. it has been a morning and a mess here in daly city. there are front loaders and vacuum trucks everywhere trying to deal with this mudslide. it started with a water pipe that broke off. i wanted to show you what it has done to the hillside this morning as a section came down bringing trees and debris right into the neighborhood. neighbors say it sounded like a storm. water rushing down the hillside along lusanne avenue carrying debris and trees trapping parked cars. it was just to the left of romero's home. >> i was not aware there was a tank up there. >> reporter: what do you think now that you know what happened? >> i'm guessing, you know, infrastructure might be getting old. >> reporter: the gap in the hillside

on tuesday's election. >>> get ready for a heat wave. christina loren will tell us where we can expect to see and feel record numbers. the news at 11:00 starts now. >>> good morning. thanks for being with us. i'm marla tellez. >> i'm jon kelley. we start this morning with breaking news out of san francisco. it has been nothing short of a nightmare commute for muni riders. trains back up and running in an half hour. all lines have been shutdown at west portal and embarcadero after reports of a body laying on the tracks. we have christie smith with the latest. >> reporter: good morning, and marla. this was a rough start to the morning commute. trains not running for three hours this morning. within the last 30 minutes, things turned around. about 160,000 commuters use the route each day and half were inconvenienced. emergency trucks lined market street this morning near the montgomery station and downstairs, muni metro riders were turned away. >> they said there was a medical emergency and take another route. >> reporter: what does that do to your morning? >> i have to take the bus. >> reporter
